Please try your best to excuse my sloppy, sloppy improv drumming. New camera: Kodak PlaySport Zx5, it's fairly good except for indoors, where everything recorded appears murky and crappy, but the built-in microphone sucks horribly and I'd recommend using an external microphone when the opportunity is available. I dig the 60FPS recording feature. Too bad Windows Movie Maker doesn't, though. :( New cymbals: Meinl HCS 14" HiHat and 18" crash/ride. The 14" HiHat is absolutely fantastic. For the price it's perfect. Sounds absolutely wonderful. Sounds far more expensive than it is. Sound-wise it doesn't quite match up to my favorite hi-hat--the Paiste 2002 Classic 14" Sound Edge--but that's also a 0+ hi-hat. I'd go as far as to say it's the next best thing, though. The 18" Crash/Ride is good for its price. The ride part of it sounds great, but a little too...I guess "tonal" is the word I'm trying to think of. It's not so easy to crash but the crashing doesn't sound terrible. I got those cymbals in a 5 bundle brand new from Amazon.com. For their price I am way more than pleased with the quality of them. The hi-hat alone sounds like something that'd cost 0. The crash/ride yields maybe ninety-dollar sound but I'm not at all unhappy with it. When compared to the bronze circular sheet metal sheets that FirstAct placed their logo on and passed off as "cymbals", they sound more than good enough to succeed the makeshift cymbals. ...although frankly, when you bend that little ...
